One of nature’s least understood secrets is revealed in the inspired bestseller The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino. The secret is that all nature is “a circle of moods”. Winter turns to summer, birds arrive and depart for warmer climates, and flowers bloom and wilt away. We, being a part of nature, have moods as well. Today’s happiness becomes tomorrow’s sadness, just as sufferance today will bloom into tomorrow’s joy.

It’s important to acknowledge the ever-changing weather in ourselves, to accept it as a normal aspect of being alive. The book reasons that we must become masters of our emotions and bring “joy and enthusiasm and brightness and laughter to our customers” no matter how we feel inside, and our customers will react in kind. Our sunshine-y weather will “produce a harvest of sales and a granary of gold“.

As well, with this new knowledge we can better understand the moods of others. We will make allowances for people’s irritability today and know that their mood will change to be more agreeable tomorrow. From the book:

“No longer will I judge a man on one meeting; no longer will I fail to call again tomorrow on he who meets me with hate today. This day he will not buy gold chariots for a penny, yet tomorrow he would exchange his home for a tree. My knowledge of this secret will be my key to great wealth.”

Recognize the cyclical nature of moods in nature and in yourself, and control your emotions with positive behaviour for prosperity.

Failure is as a necessary part of entrepreneurship. It’s a skill to master. The mythology of […]
